I've always had stories in my head. For most of my life they stayed there — quietly waiting.

It took four grandchildren to finally let them out.

It started at the dinner table, telling my granddaughter Rosa stories to encourage her to eat. She loved the stories so much she kept asking for more — always more — so I started recording them on WhatsApp, then writing them down. The children had a name for the stories. They called them their "Grandma Stories." That name stuck, and eventually it became the name for everything: the series, the website, all of it.

But the truth is, writing found me at exactly the right moment. Alongside the stories, I began training as a counsellor — and something unexpected happened. The inner work created space. Space in my head, and space in my heart, for creativity to breathe. Two completely different paths that somehow unlocked each other.

I realised I was at the beginning of something new — a creative journey I hadn't known was waiting for me. Writing brings me a joy that's hard to describe to anyone who hasn't felt it. It's not just about the books. It's about finally following the part of myself that was always there, just waiting for the right moment.

I'm now working on Book 2, with four grandchildren — and plenty more Grandma Stories — to inspire me.
